The day of your fly fishing guiding trip may start at our base camp on Dodge Pond in Rangeley, Maine. Dodge Pond is a small 338 acre fresh water lake that runs north and south 4 miles west of the town of Rangeley on route 16. The base camp was part of Badger Sporting Camps founded in the late 1800’s. With beautiful view of the lake, it is a short walk to Dodge Pond stream where trout and salmon hide in the riffs and pocket water under the shade of overhanging trees.
If you have purchased the “Learn to Fly Fish Class”, we will meet at noon at the base camp and after you store your gear, we will have a nice lunch shore side before the classes start. The cabin can accommodate up to 8 people with a large open bunk room, has a full kitchen for dinning, shower with hot and cold water and a classic wood paneled sitting room.
If you water to fly fish from a boat, we have access to Dodge Pond as well as Round Pond which is a 5 minute ATV ride. A fly fishing only pond, it boosts two inlets deep drop-offs next to the shore with trout and salmon up to 17” or so. it fishes well with smelt steamers, wooly buggers, and Adams during a hatch.
